Achieving Patroller Status

Candidates Provide Proof of Completing Elective Courses
( You don't have to do Electives First. )

Obtaining Your NSP Patrol Representative's Recommendation

No Minimum age
(Note: to be a patroller you have to be sixteen)

No Minimum Experience Requirement
(Used to was, you had to wait three years after becoming a Patroller, no more!!)

Senior Elective List
Education Courses	Leadership Courses	Division optional
Instructor Development Courses	Patroller Enrichment Seminar	One elective may come from a list of approved division electives. Guidelines: It must be an educational course that enhances the student's ability to perform ski patrol duties; it must be a least eight hours in length and it must be taught by a certified instructor.
Mountain Travel and Rescue Fundamentals Course or Mountain Travel and Rescue 1 Course	NSP Leadership Module or equivalent course approved by the board of directors
Mountain Travel and Rescue 2 Course (required for Senior Nordic Candidates)	NSP Instructor Status( Any Discipline)
Avalanche Fundamentals and Rescue or Level I Avalanche Course	NSP Instructor Trainer appointment (any discipline)
Level II Avalanche Course	Professional Ski Instructors of PSIA certified level II
Powderfall	PSIA Certified Level III
Avalanche Foundation School didactic sessions	BLS CRP Instructor or Instructor Trainer Certification
Skiing Enhancement Seminar	AED Instructor Course
Ski Trainer's Workshop
Toboggan Enhancement Seminar
Mountain and Avalanche Awareness Course
