This inductee began her patrolling career in 1991 and quickly immersed herself in all aspects of patrolling, becoming an OEC and OET instructor, attaining Senior Alpine in 1998, and then becoming an OET Training Evaluator the following year.
At the Patrol level this Patroller has been a Board Member, First Aid Advisor, Swap Chair, Lift Evac Instructor and Patrol Director. She has been a member of the Region Awards Review Committee, and was a member of the CT Region Patrol Competition Team which placed first at the Eastern Division Competition. She helped organize and teach Women's OET clinics.
Awards received at the local level include Rookie of the Year, The Jack Bloomquist Award for the most volunteer hours, Patroller of the Year, and the Patrol Director's Award. At the Region level they have received: Region Instructor of the Year and Region Patroller of the Year. National awards received include a Yellow Merit Star and National Appointment #9934 in 2004.
Marge has been heavily involved with teaching at the local and regional level for most of her patrolling career. She brings with her a deep knowledge and passion for the subject matter and meets the high expectations of all her students, both in OEC classes, and at the annual refresher stations. If you want to get something accomplished, ask for help and support from Marge, for it is well known and often said, "Marge's hands make light work." Welcome Marge Thorpe to the CT Region Hall of Fame.
